It’s the most over-used cliche in politics today, but the 34th Senate District is really a melting pot. Here’s the past few days and events:
Thursday, August 15: I stop by Fairfax Country Club for Korean Independence Day sponsored by the Korean-American Association of Greater Washington.
Sunday, August 19: It’s Indian-American Independence Day! At the “NZone” in Chantilly, colorful dancers bounce on-stage in bells and henna. I get a chance to speak to the crowd, then give an interview to Indian TV.
Monday, August 20: It’s the annual Eid Dinner at the new Mubarak Mosque off Walney Road. I join Sully Supervisor Mike Frey, Delegate Tom Rust and Delegate Mark Keam to help the congregation celebrate the end of Ramadan.
Tomorrow I’m speaking to the Northern Virginia Baptist Association in Gainesville, so we’re covering all the bases theologically and geographically.
