There are a lot of outages still in the 34th Senate district, even after four days. Here are some of the major ones, according to Dominion’s interactive map:
Kings Park West: 383 homes
Willow Crescent; 271 homes
Great Oaks/Old Lee Highway: 264 homes
Mantua: 312 homes
Mill Creek: 119 homes
Fair Oaks: 362 homes
Mosby Woods (City): 148 homes
Mosby Woods (County): 194 homes
Westmore: 283 homes
Windover (Vienna): 139 homes
Pine Ridge: 222 homes
Greenbriar West: 200 homes
All told, I’d guess about 5,000 homes are still dark in the precincts I represent. The good news is that the number is changing for the positive every hour, which I’ve confirmed by driving around this afternoon and doing some old-fashioned home visits. (In addition, we had a conference call this afternoon with Dominion Power and they updated us on the recovery statistics).
All told, there are 38,000 homes left without power in Fairfax County (and less than 100,000 in northern Virginia). So the “up” rate is now around 90%.
The magnitude of Friday night’s blast is multiples of what we experienced with Hurricanes Irene (2011) and Isabel (2003). Nor was there any warning.
Still waiting on an appropriate name for this storm ….
