A lot going on this weekend, including three separate events at George Mason U.
Last night was the “Arts by George” sponsored by the University’s Theater of the Performing Arts. It’s an annual showcase for the artists/students who come to Mason from all over the U.S. and abroad. Had a chance to see some intense modern dance moves. Do not try at home.
This morning was the “Kit Callahan 10K” for brain injury survivors. The first race was in 2001, the weekend after 9/11. Since that time, we have seen TBI (traumatic brain injury) in the news for vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The Race, which is three laps around the campus, has grown each year. Today we had a bipartisan team running with Tag Greason (R-Loudoun), me and David Bulova (D-Fairfax) all in. Cool rain the whole way. Finished in 48:25.
This afternoon was the “Korean Traditional Arts Festival”, at the Harris Theater at Mason. I played the MC for a short bit. Just got out and stopping by the office.
In major news — Woody’s reopened over the weekend in downtown Fairfax City. The iconic ice cream shop is back in a new location (just off Main Street and behind Auld Shebeen).
