… Santa Claus.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
Like every year, we will be home on Christmas Day. All our family on both sides comes back to Virginia and they typically wind up at our house (the magical pull of grandchildren). Key events include the traditional glazed ham for brunch, opening presents by the fireplace, and playing football in the backyard.
There are so many great moments of Christmas. My favorite is the midnight mass at our church which gets out around 12:30 a.m. Afterwards, I walk back home. The businesses are closed. The night is dark and silent. Everyone is asleep in Fairfax City.
Except the man on duty at “Freedom Bail Bonds” on Main Street. As I walk by, I wave at him and he waves at me.
Peace on earth. Goodwill to men.
