The Pacers Four Mile Run is tonight. The course begins in downtown Fairfax, heads down Rte 50 to Fairfax High School, then comes back on Old Lee Highway.
Race starts at 6:30 p.m. I’ll be taking on the cold and rain in a pack of 1,500+ runners. Afterwards, I’ll be having a nice warm Guiness at a local pub to welcome the New Year. You can bet on that.
By the way, a shout out to my parents, John and Mary Petersen, who celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary tonight. We love you Mom and Dad!
(Update: New Year’s Day at 5 pm)
The race was rainy and cold. Puddles everywhere. Couldn’t see a damn thing except when we circled the track at Fairfax HS, which was brightly lit. Finished in 31:14, which is lousy but what the hell. The year’s over. Much love to the gang at Pacers and Jo Ormesher for organizing. You guys are the greatest.
At home about to visit with my Korean in-laws to exchange gifts. Will watch Tebow’s last game tonight against Cincy. Hard to believe college football season is over. Makes me sad.
