It's a Scorcher Out There
It's noon on Sunday. I'm home with 2 kids, while my wife and oldest daughter are on an outing. It's about 100 degrees outside in the shade.
Started off the weekend at 8 a.m. with the Fairfax City Trails Day running festival. I got two bites at the apple. I ran the one-mile with my 6 year-old Mary Walton. Then I ran the 5K on my own. Not my best time (over 23 minutes). It was a hilly course and the heat was burning.
At 11 a.m., I took the family to Mantua for its annual parade and the opening of the pool. Great work by Mantua Civic Association and their pool committee. By the time the Parade was finished and the inevitable opening remarks occurred, we were ready to jump in the cool blue water.
At exactly noon, the pool opened and 200 kids (I'm guessing), including my two daughters, dove in. I was right behind them. Summer has officially begun.
Then last night I was out knocking doors near Tysons Corner, right off of Gallows Road. Talking to constituents about the upcoming 11th District Democratic primary. I held off til after 5 pm to avoid the mid-day heat, and it was still over 95 degrees.
Fair to say that most voters (even Democrats with primary-voting history) are still either undecided or relatively uninformed about the race. Most the doors I spoke with were undecided. Or maybe they won't be voting.
We'll see who comes out to vote on Tuesday.

Thanks for stopping by this afternoon. I'm glad you are working on various energy issues on our behalf. Perhaps more telecommuting sites/incentives would buy time until the transportation issues progress. I'll have to train Savannah to bark at Republican politicians and not the good guys.
See you on the running trail.
Michael
Thanks Michael. It was a pleasure to meet you & Savannah today. I will keep you posted on energy & transpo issues. There's a lot to talk about. I went running tonight (after door knocking). It was amazingly hot, even at 9 pm.
