A Few Thoughts as We End August
The month of August will finally end this week. It's a been a long hot one.
(author's note -- we having a "Chappy Hour" at the Auld Shebeen in Fairfax on Thursday, 8/30 at 7 pm. Please come join us to watch Jason Campbell and the Redskins)
I'm grateful for all the people who have been walking neighborhoods and knocking on doors for me. I can't say that enough. I really can't.
This August has personally been one of the busiest of the campaign. I've covered four precincts and hit about 3,000 doors on my own. I've met a lot of people and heard a lot of ideas -- including one man who wanted Virginia to have its own currency.
Thanks to everyone who spoke to me, encouraged me or just give me a glass of water. It's been a pleasure.
Through it all, I've continued to go to the office every day and practice law. I had a trial two weeks ago, which took a lot of time and preparation. Fortunately, we were successful. Don't forget -- politics in Virginia is not for professional politicians. Or shouldn't be.
I don't usually do this but ...
My wife Sharon and I celebrate our wedding anniversary on Friday, August 31st. It's been eleven years together. They have been the best years of my life.
See you in September!
