Election Day

It's finally here.  Election Day is a chance to see old friends and constituents.  I have worked the last four races at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax County. It's the "swing" area that was reliably Republican in the Nineties and then moved "D" in the last two years.  Here's the trend line of winners in major elections from 1997:  Gilmore/Rust, Bush/Davis, Warner/Petersen, Kerry (by one vote!)/Davis, Kaine/Bulova.

The Repubs were out in force and I was the only Dem 'til about 7 a.m., then a number of young volunteers showed up from George Mason University.  It was a relatively friendly crowd, with both sides having supporters.  The main slowdown was with the amendments, which are very confusing.

Moved on at 8 a.m. to two other polling places in the County.  Democratic turnout appears strong.  Very strong.  I'll leave it at that.  Feel free to make your own predictions....
